YOU DON'T NEED MOTIVATION, YOU NEED CONSISTENCY.
Everyone is looking for it. Waiting for it to come. They think how they can get it and they can hardly start any action before it comes.
Motivation.
How can you boost motivation? Ways to increase motivation. How does motivation come about? To grab more attention, I could have written this article in those ways. I could have also added points that don’t work in the long run but will give you a quick boost in the moment.
But damn it, I’m just too realistic. And the truth is, you don’t actually need motivation. Yes, the moment you accept that, you’re free. So you no longer have to search for it, chase after it, wonder why it’s nowhere to be found, or sit around doing nothing if it doesn’t show up. True freedom.
So I’ve decided to explain in three points why you don’t actually need motivation. And my goal is to convince you of this.
Motivation rarely comes before you start. It comes after you start. To test this out as quickly and easily as possible, I suggest you try a method I use all the time: If you’re not feeling motivated on a day you’ve planned to exercise, don’t wait for it to come. Just do what you need to do. Put on your workout clothes, head to where you’ll be exercising, and start your workout. Try this for just 5 minutes. And promise yourself that if you don’t want to continue, you can stop. After 5 minutes, you’ll never want to stop. Because motivation definitely comes with movement.
The last five years of my life, in particular, have taught me that what you need to achieve effective, long-term results isn’t motivation. It’s simply CONSISTENCY. The best, most effective, most lasting, and most sustainable results—the ones that come naturally and effortlessly—are achieved through consistency. Just figure out what you want to do. Decide exactly what your goal is. Be clear about it. And keep doing it with consistency. The results will surprise you before you know it. I’ll be here too—if you’d like to give me a chance.
You can’t wait for motivation. Because life is passing you by. And this is your life. Your time is running out—it won’t come back. Think of motivation as a friend who doesn’t keep their word. The truth is, it’s not always as loyal or as reliable as you’d like it to be. Would you give up on an action—one that you’re absolutely determined to take and that would change so many things in your life—just because this friend didn’t show up? Forget it. Stop thinking about it. If it doesn’t come, so be it. You keep going. Everything you want to do is waiting for you. That’s exactly what I mean by true freedom.
QUESTION YOUR-SELF
Are there things that I keep putting off, waiting for the motivation to come? And more than that, the things I want to do but haven't done, the time I'm wasting, is it worth it?
What can I start right away without waiting for motivation? What action can I take today that I want to do right away?
KINDLY REMINDER
You don’t need motivation. What you need is consistency. Find what drives you and keep doing it consistently.
